Control & Instrumentation Lead – Green Industrial Project | Sweden

We are seeking an experienced Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Lead to join a landmark green industrial project in Sweden. This is an annually renewable contract role, with flexibility for the successful candidate to be based in either Stockholm or Boden.

This opportunity supports the development of a large-scale green steel production facility that significantly reduces carbon emissions compared to traditional steelmaking. As part of the central engineering team, the C&I Lead will be responsible for the technical leadership and standardisation of control and instrumentation systems across the project.

Location: Stockholm or Boden, Sweden (candidate choice)
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day
Contract Type: Annually renewable contract

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and act as the subject matter expert for all C&I engineering matters

  • Serve as the point of escalation and technical authority for project teams

  • Standardise C&I systems, equipment, and documentation across the project

  • Own and manage the development and application of C&I engineering standards and guidelines

  • Ensure team competency and define roles and authority levels in collaboration with design managers

  • Support scope development and prepare engineering packages for handover to contractors

  • Act as business owner for key C&I engineering contracts with third-party suppliers

  • Manage performance and develop long-term strategies with external partners

  • Complete all assigned tasks and responsibilities as directed by the Head of Central Engineering

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Controls, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in heavy industry, preferably with exposure to steel manufacturing or similar sectors

  • At least 5 years in a senior C&I role

  • Strong technical and process safety understanding

  • In-depth knowledge of relevant Swedish and European standards and regulations

  • Proven experience delivering engineering projects in industrial plant environments

  • Effective communicator with the ability to manage diverse stakeholders and drive outcomes across functional teams
