CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISOR (ELECTRICAL)

Location: Qatar

Qualification

  • B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university or equivalent.
  • Extensive construction-related experience, with skills in construction management, effective communication, and conflict resolution.
  • Relevant courses in HSE, QA/QC, and construction management.

Experience

  • Minimum 12 years' experience in electrical construction, installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of oil & gas, petrochemical, or high-rise building projects for HV, MV, and LV electrical systems, including supervisory experience.
  • Thorough working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) / NFPA 70, IEC, or equivalent standards.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical installations, materials, methods, specifications, and hazardous location identification, as applicable.
  • Familiarity with construction industry best practices, systems, processes, and standards.
  • Experience interpreting method statements, construction schedules, and drawings.
  • Exposure to multinational contractors and experience resolving site issues both technically and contractually.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Construction Supervision & Coordination

  • Act as the construction focal point for electrical and cathodic protection works on multi-discipline projects.
  • Chair weekly construction progress meetings, manage site documentation, and liaise with discipline supervisors, senior engineers, and other departments.
  • Supervise site construction/installation for multiple projects, ensuring work complies with approved plans and quality standards.
  • Review project planning and scheduling during construction to identify slippage and optimize contractor resources.
  • Review contractors' construction plans, schedules, method statements, and job safety analyses (JSAs).

Site & Quality Control

  • Endorse red-marked as-built drawings and construction dossiers.
  • Assist with contractor mobilization and demobilization.
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations, project safety plans, and environmental standards.
  • Control and endorse work permits for project activities.
  • Inspect construction works and materials per project quality plans and inspection & test plans (ITPs).

Reporting & Documentation

  • Update daily and weekly construction progress reports; verify contractors' progress statements for accuracy.
  • Prepare and manage punch lists, ensuring all items are addressed by contractors.
  • Coordinate pre-commissioning activities and support commissioning of facilities.
  • Facilitate issuance of Mechanical Completion Certificates (MCC), Handover Certificates (HOC), Acceptance Certificates (AC), and Project Completion & Discharge Certificates.

Team Development & Coordination

  • Support development of local engineers on site.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to resolve routine site issues; escalate technical queries to senior supervisors or project engineers.

Other Requirements

  • Candidate should possess a valid driving license.
