CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISOR (ELECTRICAL)
Position Reference: 11.4.16 / 11.4.17 / 11.4.18
Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university or equivalent.
- Strong background in construction-related activities, with good skills in construction management, effective communication, and conflict resolution.
- Relevant certifications or training in Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC), and construction practices.
Experience:
- Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in the electrical discipline, specifically in construction, installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning in sectors such as oil & gas, petrochemical, or high-rise buildings.
- Hands-on experience with High Voltage (HV), Medium Voltage (MV), and Low Voltage (LV) electrical systems and equipment.
- Familiarity with international electrical standards such as NEC (National Electrical Code) / NFPA 70, IEC, or their equivalents.
- Experience in implementing industry best practices, systems, and procedures.
- Proven supervisory experience in pre-commissioning and commissioning works.
- Competency in interpreting construction drawings, method statements, and construction schedules.
- Strong problem-solving skills on both technical and contractual fronts.
- Experience working with multinational contractors is preferred.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the focal point for electrical and cathodic protection construction activities across multiple multidisciplinary projects.
- Lead weekly construction progress meetings and maintain site document control.
- Liaise with other discipline supervisors, project engineers, and interdepartmental personnel.
- Supervise on-site construction/installation for various projects.
- Review construction schedules and identify slippages; provide recommendations to optimize contractor resources and maintain project timelines.
- Evaluate and approve contractors' construction plans, method statements, and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
- Review and validate red-marked as-built drawings, pre-commissioning, and commissioning procedures.
- Support contractor mobilization/demobilization activities.
- Ensure contractor compliance with safety regulations, project-specific safety plans, and applicable environmental standards.
- Manage and endorse work permits for electrical construction activities.
- Conduct inspections of electrical works and materials based on project quality and inspection/test plans (ITPs).
- Generate and update daily/weekly progress reports and verify accuracy of contractors' progress claims.
- Attend and contribute to project progress meetings.
- Prepare punch lists and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items.
- Coordinate and support pre-commissioning and commissioning efforts.
- Initiate and manage Mechanical Completion Certificates (MCC), Handover Certificates (HOC), Acceptance Certificates (AC), and other close-out documentation.
- Contribute to the development and mentoring of junior engineers.
- Coordinate with relevant parties to resolve routine site issues and escalate technical queries when necessary.
- Possession of a valid local driving license is required.
