ROLE: Construction Planner

Contract Duration: Until 28 th February 2027 with potential to extend

Location: El Morell, Tarragona - Spain

Type of Contract: Residential Contract Role

Shift Pattern: 10 hours per day, 5 days per week (M-F). No Hybrid or work from home as this is a fully site based role.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Understanding of the project schedule, the schedule basis and the work process to be followed for plan creation.  Detailed knowledge of the project scope report and the execution strategy, including client reporting requirements to support project management.  Working with Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, Procurement Managers, Construction Managers, Project Engineers and Lead Engineers to proactively develop and status the schedule.
  • Development of fully integrated Baseline EPC Level 3 schedules.
  • Utilising AWP process, work alongside the construction team to develop Level 3 Construction schedule that is supported by Engineering and Procurement.
  • Development of Construction Progress Measurement System (PMS).
  • Interface with the subcontractors to ensure schedule alignment.
  • Monthly updates of Project Master Level 3 schedules.
  • Collection of information / production of monthly Status Report.
  • Conduct Critical Path Analyses and recommend mitigating actions where necessary.
  • Production of progress, productivity curves and earned value reporting.
  • Production / issue of formal reports (with input from Projects).
  • Preparing ad hoc progress reports to facilitate effective controls within Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning.
  • Provide statistical data for management reviews.
  • Regular project team reviews, Public Planning Meeting and Last Planner Meetings.
  • Initiate day-to-day discussions with all groups involved in a project to assess the change / schedule implication of ongoing work.
  • Schedule reduction exercises to provide ballpark schedule views for alternatives.
  • Assist project team in development of action plans to avoid / minimise cost / schedule overruns.
  • Act as the sole Planner on site
  • Interface directly and effectively with the site contractors to understand their schedule. Develop and collaboratively refine the contractor's schedule and work closely with them to ensure the schedule accurately reflects the planned work scope and progress.
  • Regularly interface with the Construction Manager and discipline Superintendents (Civil, Mechanical, E&I, etc) to integrate their input and ensure schedule alignment.
  • Monitor progress against the schedule, identify potential delays or issues, and proactively propose solutions.
  • Check and challenge schedule logic, durations,
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Communicate schedule updates and progress effectively to all stakeholders.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Demonstrable project planning experience within construction or relevant industrial projects.
  • Experience on brownfield projects with a strong understanding of build sequences
  • On site experience is essential (in Spain preferably)
  • Previous experience in a similar role.

Industry Experience:

  • Oil and Gas, Industrial constructions projects

Software requirements:

  • Primavera P6 (Mandatory)
  • Microsoft Project (good to have)
  • Deltek Acumen Risk for schedule and cost risk analysis. (desireable)

Language Skills:

  • Must be a fluent Spanish speaker and possess excellent written and spoken English communication skills
