Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned Construction Piping Superintendent to join an onshore energy project in Rotterdam. Working with a leading green hydrogen production company, you will be responsible for the successful execution of all piping activities across pre-fabrication, installation, testing, insulation, and QA/QC.
This position is ideal for candidates with strong leadership in field piping construction, fluent Dutch and English communication skills, and a detailed understanding of piping standards, safety protocols, and worksite execution.
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the full scope of piping construction including supports, painting, testing, insulation, and documentation

Monitor and inspect pipe prefabrication quality, material traceability, cleaning, preservation, and packaging

Ensure correct installation of piping, valves, in-line equipment in compliance with project drawings and standards

Supervise coating and insulation activities, ensuring compliance with specifications (e.g., cryogenic insulation and vapour barriers)

Ensure all system testing (hydrostatic/pneumatic) follows safety and project protocols

Interface with QA/QC to maintain weld quality, proper documentation, and inspection records

Review and approve contractor RAMS and issue daily work permits

Manage punch lists, pre-commissioning support, and final system handovers

Lead subcontractor construction teams and coordinate with other trade supervisors

Promote safety, quality, and project execution standards on site

Track additional works, support BoQ reviews, and seek optimal construction methods

Maintain reporting, documentation, and site records as per project protocols

Ensure excellent communication and coordination across scaffolding, HSE, and quality teams

Ensure familiarity with client piping standards and specifications
Required Qualifications and Experience:

Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or relevant Engineering discipline

Minimum 10 years’ site-based construction experience in oil & gas, industrial gases, or related heavy industry

Proven track record in piping fabrication, erection, insulation, testing, and inspection

Strong working knowledge of piping codes and standards (ASME B31.3 essential)

Strong leadership, coordination, and communication abilities

Skilled in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); report writing experience

Fluent in both Dutch and English (written and spoken)

Experience working within multicultural teams
Desirable:

Background in industrial gas plant construction

Experience managing construction from the client side (not just EPC)

Familiarity with executing BoQ-based contracts
