Concept Development Consultant – Renewable Energy Solutions

Location: UK (Hybrid / Office-based options may apply)
Industry: Energy / Renewables / Decarbonisation
Type: Permanent

About the Role

An excellent opportunity has opened up to join a globally recognised energy provider, consistently ranked among the top employers in the UK. Due to recent project wins, we’re looking for a talented Concept Development Consultant with a strong background in the technical design of integrated renewable energy solutions.

In this role, you’ll take the lead on shaping the early-stage design of decarbonisation systems involving solar PV, battery energy storage (BESS), and wind technologies. If you're passionate about developing commercially smart, low-carbon energy systems that really make a difference—this is your stage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and technical modelling of solar PV, BESS, and wind energy systems

  • Take ownership as a subject matter expert for renewable technologies, including emerging innovations and evolving regulations

  • Create feasibility assessments and concept designs that are technically robust, commercially sound, and tailored to client needs

  • Collaborate closely with internal teams—Commercial, Procurement, Legal, Engineering, and Project Management—to ensure solutions are viable and aligned with time, cost, quality, and safety objectives

  • Stay up to date with best practices, legislation, and design standards across renewable energy sectors

  • Build detailed technical models to simulate utility operations and uncover energy-saving opportunities

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree-qualified in Engineering or a related discipline (BEng, MEng, MSc)

  • Strong experience designing and developing renewable solutions, particularly across solar, wind, and energy storage systems

  • Proficiency in modelling tools such as EnergyPro, PVsyst, PV*Sol, RatedPower, or similar platforms

  • IOSH or NEBOSH General Certificate preferred

  • Ability to manage complex projects and solve technical and stakeholder-related challenges

  • Skilled in interpreting client needs and turning them into practical, scalable energy solutions

Additional Information

  • Applicants must have the right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

  • This is a full-time position with hybrid/flexible working options depending on location and project phase.
