Commissioning Specialist (Telecoms) - Oil & Gas

Overview
We are seeking a Commissioning Specialist (Telecoms) to monitor, supervise, and provide technical assurance for all telecom commissioning activities within oil and gas projects. This role ensures contractor commissioning activities meet project specifications, codes, and company requirements, and that all systems are fully tested and ready for offshore integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the client's representative for all telecom pre-commissioning and commissioning activities at construction yard and offshore, reporting issues and providing technical solutions
- Review and approve EPC contractor commissioning plans, procedures, risk assessments, and method statements for telecom systems
- Oversee and witness commissioning of telecom systems, ensuring smooth integration at offshore facilities
- Witness FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests) and SATs (Site Acceptance Tests) to ensure compliance with approved procedures and design requirements
- Verify system readiness for energization and sign off test/check sheets in accordance with project requirements
- Interface with I&C, Electrical, and Mechanical commissioning teams for integrated system testing
- Ensure full compliance with PTW (Permit to Work) and HSE standards
- Review and endorse commissioning dossiers, test reports, punch lists, and red-line markups
- Maintain accurate documentation and system databases for the telecom discipline
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Applied Sciences
- Minimum 8 years' experience in telecom commissioning for oil and gas projects, including at least 3 years in a PMT or supervisory role
- Experience with offshore platform telecom systems such as PAGA, CCTV, Access Control, Telephony, UHF & VHF Radio Systems
Technical and Business Skills
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures
- Proven ability to make technical decisions and prioritise tasks under pressure
- Extensive knowledge of telecom commissioning processes, FAT/SAT, and system integration
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with system completion management software (e.g., Hexagon, WinPCS) is advantageous
