Job Overview
An international energy project is seeking an experienced Commissioning Specialist (I&C) to support the delivery of offshore facilities. This role focuses on overseeing and assuring commissioning activities for field instrumentation and integrated control and safety systems during fabrication, pre-commissioning, and commissioning phases.

You will work closely with project teams, EPC contractors, and vendors to ensure systems are installed, tested, and handed over safely, on schedule, and in full compliance with project and international standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review EPC commissioning deliverables including loop folders, instrument data sheets, hook-up drawings, control narratives, cause and effect charts, and test procedures.

  • Witness and verify I&C pre-commissioning and commissioning activities such as loop checks, calibration, logic verification, and functional testing.

  • Confirm correct installation and configuration of field instruments including pressure, temperature, flow, level, and analytical devices.

  • Verify impulse lines, manifolds, tubing installation, instrument air quality, and overall system readiness prior to energisation.

  • Ensure control systems (ICSS, DCS, PLC, ESD, F&G) are fully configured, including database loading, I/O allocation, redundancy validation, and HMI verification.

  • Validate loop continuity, signal polarity, grounding, shielding, and overall signal integrity.

  • Review and approve commissioning procedures and method statements, ensuring adequate coverage of interlocks, alarms, trips, and fail-safe logic.

  • Participate in system walkdowns to confirm installation against P&IDs, loop diagrams, hazardous area requirements, and Ex certification.

  • Lead and witness cause and effect testing, including shutdown systems and third-party interfaces.

  • Support dynamic commissioning, including loop tuning, alarm and trip verification, and control valve performance checks.

  • Witness FAT, SAT, and integrated system testing, ensuring communication protocols and interface functionality are correctly implemented.

  • Ensure documentation is updated to reflect as-built status prior to handover.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Applied Sciences.

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Instrumentation and Control commissioning within large oil and gas or energy projects.

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a supervisory, PMT, or client-side role.

  • Strong knowledge of offshore platforms or topsides commissioning.

  • In-depth understanding of ICSS, DCS, PLC, ESD, and Fire & Gas systems.

  • Experience supporting EPC planning and execution phases.

  • Strong organisational skills and sound technical judgement.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

  • Strong commitment to site safety and quality standards.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard engineering documentation systems.

  • Excellent communication skills and fluent English.
