Civil Engineering Supervisor

The Role
We are looking for an experienced Civil Engineering Supervisor to oversee construction projects at Schiphol. You will be responsible for ensuring safety, quality, and compliance throughout the construction process, from start to delivery and handover.
Working on multiple projects simultaneously, you will collaborate with Project Managers, Supervisors from other disciplines, Project Coordinators, and Safety Advisors. With your technical expertise, you will ensure that projects are delivered according to contracts, regulations, and the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor compliance with contracts, legislation, technical standards, quality plans, and Schiphol's rules and procedures.
- Prepare detailed supervision and coordination plans with the project team.
- Record inspection findings and report to the Project Manager.
- Review contractor documents (e.g., drawings, quality/work plans) and materials.
- Check permits and compliance with permit conditions.
- Track project progress, identify deviations, and advise on additional/reduced work.
- Participate in construction and coordination meetings.
- Maintain site administration and prepare reports.
- Organize project delivery and commissioning, ensuring smooth handover to the client.

Construction at Schiphol takes place in a highly dynamic, complex environment where operations never stop. Even smaller projects involve multiple stakeholders and high standards of project management. The Construction Management department ensures safe and high-quality execution by deploying Supervisors, Project Coordinators, and Safety Advisors within project teams.
Candidate Profile
- MBO level 4 (minimum), preferably in civil engineering or similar.
- Strong track record in supervising new construction and renovation projects.
- Solid knowledge of legislation, regulations, and contract forms (UAV, UAV-GC, RAW).
- Valid VCA-VOL certification (mandatory).
- Familiarity with permits, quality, and work processes.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to oversee multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Proactive, collaborative, and confident in enforcing compliance when required.
- Knowledge of asphalt and concrete pavements (advantage).
- Experience in dynamic, complex environments (e.g., airports) is a plus.
