Civil Design Engineer – Water
Location: Manchester
A leading engineering design consultancy is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join a friendly and technically strong civil design team. The role offers exposure to a variety of water-sector projects, including clean water, wastewater, and infrastructure schemes, with occasional site visits and a supportive hybrid working model.
About the Role
The Civil Design Engineer will produce high-quality civil engineering design deliverables for water-sector assets, ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance across all assigned design packages. Work will span outline and detailed design, providing strong technical exposure within a multidisciplinary environment.
Key Responsibilities

Produce civil design calculations, drawings, and deliverables.

Provide outputs that meet all safety and quality requirements.

Direct and support CAD technicians.

Prepare design risk assessments, reports, and specifications.

Ensure compliance with professional and water company standards.

Implement and record design changes as required.

Follow formal processes and procedures.

Assist with estimating design hours.

Attend and contribute to meetings and design reviews.
Required Qualifications & Experience

Minimum 5 years’ design experience in the regulated water industry.

Experience producing hydraulic calculations and profiles.
-
Graduate, HND, or equivalent experience from Technician level.

Good IT proficiency.

Registered with a professional body and working toward chartership.

Strong organisation and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience

Chartered Engineer.

Experience across clean and wastewater schemes.

Experience with infrastructure and non-infrastructure designs.

Knowledge of construction methods and materials.

Understanding of engineering drawing practices.

Full driving licence and vehicle access.
