Chemical Operator – Permanent
Location: Southampton
We are seeking an experienced Chemical Operator to join a busy operations team in Southampton. This is a permanent opportunity offering excellent benefits, including overtime, shift bonuses, pension, and holiday allowance.
Job Purpose

Report daily to the Shift Manager and ensure safe, efficient running of plant operations.

Carry out routine and non-routine tasks to support continuous and safe production.

Oversee contractors and personnel working on remote sites.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct routine operations such as pigging of flowlines, well testing, tanker loading/unloading, discharge water testing, and chemical inventory management.

Support non-routine operations including equipment shutdown, isolation, manual draining, and depressurising.

Identify and report abnormal operating conditions, applying analytical assessment to recommend corrective actions in collaboration with the Shift Manager.

Carry out fault-finding investigations, logging details into the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Maintain high housekeeping standards across facilities, keeping all areas clean, tidy, and free from preventable hazards.
What We’re Looking For

Previous experience in chemical operations, petrochemicals, or a similar industrial process environment.

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work safely and effectively under pressure.

Good communication and teamwork skills, with confidence to oversee contractors.

A proactive approach to safety, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
