ROLE: Chemical Lead - Chemical Risk Assessment

Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday - 37 hours per week

DESCRIPTION
The following set of criteria is considered to be essential/necessary to possess to the broadest extent possible when hiring an external consultant who both masters the professional depth and can create lasting improvement in practice in the chemical risk assessment area.
· Professional background
o Relevant natural science education (chemistry, chemical engineering, toxicology, occupational health and safety/industrial hygiene or equivalent)
o Solid understanding of toxicology, routes of exposure (inhalation, dermal, oral) and dose-response
· Regulatory and standard knowledge (DK/EU)
o REACH, CLP, SDS requirements and labelling
o The Danish Working Environment Authority's rules/guidelines on chemistry, limit values and risk assessment
o ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety) and ISO 14001 (Environment) Knowledge
· Methods and tools for risk assessment
o Systematic mapping of substances, processes and work situations
o Exposure assessment (inhalation/dermal), DNEL/PNEC use and uncertainty assessment
o Source-way-recipient principle and hierarchy of controls
· Practical experience
o Completed chemical risk assessments in an industrial/technical context (production, maintenance, laboratories, construction/construction or offshore)
o Experience with substitution/alternative assessment and chemical management in practice
o Implementation and verification of technical controls (enclosure, local extraction, ventilation)
o Selection and validation of PPE (EN standards)
Requirements:· Documentation and compliance
o Preparation of clear, usable risk assessments, chemical risk assessments and action plans in Danish
Data and analytics skills
o Statistical treatment of measurement data, limit value conclusions and uncertainties
o Structured data management (Excel/Power BI or similar) and clear visualization
o Knowledge of SDS and substance databases; Interpreting supplier data
Training, behaviour and anchoring
o Development and delivery of target group-adapted training in Danish (workers, managers, AMO)
o Behavioural and cultural understanding in relation to chemical safety; Practical Instructions/LOTO
o Communication in Danish and English, both for floor and management
Project and stakeholder management
o Clear scope, delivery schedule, schedule and risk log
o Effective coordination with HSE, operations, procurement and suppliers
o Documented cases/references from similar assignments
Meritorious certifications/authorizations
o Knowledge of REACH/CLP, ATEX, ventilation or laboratory methods
Personal qualities
o Independence and integrity of assessments
o Problem-solving, pragmatic approach with a focus on ALARP
o Ability to translate complex chemistry into simple, actionable recommendations in Danish
