Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive growth within a Contract Research Organization (CRO) environment. The role focuses on identifying, developing, and managing client relationships across the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device sectors in China. The ideal candidate will have a strong network within the clinical research industry and proven experience delivering CRO services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute business development strategies to grow CRO services in China

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities with pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device companies

  • Build and manage a robust sales pipeline from lead generation through deal closure

  • Establish and maintain long-term relationships with key decision-makers in R&D, clinical, procurement, and business development

  • Promote full-spectrum CRO services including clinical trials, regulatory affairs, biometrics, data management, and medical affairs

  • Prepare proposals, RFIs, RFPs, and manage contract negotiations in collaboration with internal teams

  • Represent the organisation at industry conferences, networking events, and client meetings

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and client needs to refine sales strategies

  • Collaborate with operations, regulatory, and project delivery teams to ensure smooth client onboarding and satisfaction

  • Achieve and exceed assigned revenue and growth targets

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Medicine, Business, or related field

  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in business development or sales within CRO, pharmaceutical, biotech, or clinical research environments

  • Proven experience selling CRO services such as clinical trials, regulatory, biometrics, medical affairs, or related areas

  • Strong network within China’s pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device sectors

  • Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in a CRO environment

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple opportunities simultaneously

  • Willingness to travel within China and occasionally across APAC
