Asset Management / O&M Manager – Renewables (BESS, Solar, Wind)

A global company with a strong reputation in the energy and power sector is seeking five Asset Management / O&M Managers to join its Energy and Power team. This is an exciting opportunity to work across renewable technologies including solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS), supporting the safe and efficient operation of client assets. Training will be provided for candidates without prior insurance experience.
Role Overview
The Asset Management / O&M Manager will work collaboratively with engineering teams across multiple lines of business to support risk assessment, asset management, and operational oversight of renewable energy projects. The role involves technical input into risk engineering, conducting site visits and surveys, supporting underwriters and leaders, and developing guidance for the energy and power sectors.
Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with engineering teams to support multi-line risk engineering initiatives

Evaluate project and operational information, including reports from brokers and third parties, and provide technical reviews

Conduct site visits and risk surveys of renewable energy projects, providing recommendations to improve operational efficiency and safety

Develop learning and development programmes for underwriters, claims, and risk engineering colleagues

Create and promote value-added engineering and risk management services for renewable energy clients

Represent the organisation at industry events, panels, and working groups to grow networks and knowledge

Support process improvement initiatives within engineering and operational teams
Technical Skills and Experience

Minimum 8 years of relevant engineering experience in power generation, renewable energy, or energy storage systems

Experience in onshore wind, solar PV, BESS, or power transmission and distribution preferred

Previous experience as a risk engineer, or operational/site management experience with renewable energy assets

BSc/BEng/MEng in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related engineering discipline

Professional engineering qualifications preferred (e.g., Chartered Engineer C.Eng, MIMechE, MIChemE, MIStructE, MICE)

Strong understanding of the energy and power sectors and willingness to continuously update technical knowledge

Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills

Ability to prioritise work, make independent decisions, and operate effectively on own initiative

Strong communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
