Job Title: Assembly & Test Lead

Job Purpose:

The Assembly & Test Lead is responsible for leading a self-directed team to meet production and performance targets. This role involves coaching and training team members to improve skills, ensure adherence to policies and standards, and enhance safety, quality, and process reliability in a cost-effective manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate daily assembly and test activities to meet project schedules and production commitments.
  • Review team requirements, plan and coordinate overtime, and ensure accurate labour reporting.
  • Monitor team performance, safety, quality, and housekeeping, reporting deficiencies to management.
  • Apply LEAN and operational excellence methodologies to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost targets.
  • Maintain and upgrade assembly/test tooling and equipment to support manufacturing capabilities.
  • Prepare requisitions, orders, and equipment lists for supplies, parts, and services.
  • Provide hands-on assembly support and coach technicians on proper techniques for key subassemblies.
  • Act as a technical resource, offering guidance and expertise to team members.
  • Complete all required test documentation including ASY/TST reports, Failed Test Reports (FTR), and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR).
  • Ensure compliance with HSE policies, prepare JSA and HIRAC for assembly/test activities, and promote a safe working environment.
  • Communicate business priorities and production requirements to the team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Interface with engineers, other team leaders, and site support groups to optimise total business performance.
  • Assist engineers in design, test station setup, factory/system acceptance testing, troubleshooting, and identifying design improvements.
  • Recommend improvements to assembly/test procedures to enhance efficiency and quality.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in assembly and testing, preferably in manufacturing or industrial settings.
  • Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication skills: written, oral, and listening.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, team-building, and initiative skills.
  • Ability to coach and guide a team to meet operational goals while modelling organisational values.
