About the Role:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Ancillary Services Specialist to join our energy trading team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing participation in ancillary service markets, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting real-time operations to maintain grid stability and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze ancillary service markets (e.g., frequency regulation, reserve capacity, voltage support).
- Develop and implement bidding strategies for ancillary services in coordination with the trading desk.
- Interface with TSOs (e.g., TERNA) and market operators to ensure compliance and operational readiness.
- Support the integration of flexible assets (e.g., batteries, demand response) into ancillary service offerings.
- Collaborate with forecasting, operations, and asset management teams to optimize service delivery.
- Track regulatory developments and market rule changes affecting ancillary services.
- Prepare performance reports and identify opportunities for revenue enhancement.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Energy Economics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in energy trading, grid operations, or ancillary services.
- Strong understanding of European electricity markets and ancillary service mechanisms.
- Familiarity with dispatch systems, SCADA, and market platforms (e.g., TERNA, ENTSO-E).
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in Excel, Python, or other data tools.
- Excellent communication skills in English; Italian or other European languages are a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with battery storage systems or demand-side flexibility.
- Knowledge of capacity markets and balancing mechanisms.
- Previous work with TSOs or regulatory bodies.
