Analyzer & Fire and Gas Engineer

Location: Qatar

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Model: Onsite with occasional project travel, Qatar

An established engineering organisation is seeking a highly experienced Analyzer & Fire and Gas Engineer to lead and support engineering, modification, and project execution of process analyzers, fire and gas systems, portable analyzers, and laboratory equipment. The role combines technical leadership, project management, and team supervision across onshore and offshore facilities.

Role Overview

The Engineer will provide expert support for analyzer and fire & gas systems, manage projects from concept through execution, and oversee the performance, maintenance, and lifecycle management of related equipment. This role requires strong leadership, project coordination skills, and deep technical knowledge of analyzer and fire & gas systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering, modifications, and project execution for analyzer, fire & gas, and laboratory systems
  • Supervise and mentor engineering teams, providing on-the-job training and constructive feedback
  • Manage project budgets, planning, and execution to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, vendors, and contractors to achieve project objectives
  • Conduct feasibility studies, conceptual and detailed designs, cost estimates, and technical evaluations
  • Ensure design and modification work complies with industry standards, technical specifications, and safety requirements
  • Participate in installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, FAT and SAT of analyzers and fire & gas systems
  • Monitor analyzer performance and assess performance using statistical tools
  • Oversee lifecycle management and continuous improvement of analyzer and fire & gas systems
  • Prepare and maintain reports, records, and documentation for quality assurance and project management
  • Support procurement, tendering, and contract management activities related to analyzer and fire & gas engineering

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation or a related engineering discipline
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in analyzer and fire & gas engineering within the petrochemical or industrial sector
  • At least 5 years of experience in team management or supervisory roles
  • In-depth knowledge of analyzer and fire & gas systems and automation engineering
  • Familiarity with major analyzer brands (e.g., Emerson, ABB, Siemens, Ametek, Servomex, Applied Analytics, HACH)
  • Knowledge of international standards (e.g., NFPA, ISA)

Technical and Business Skills

  • Project and risk management experience
  • Mentoring, coaching, and people management skills
  • Knowledge of CMMS systems and SAP preferred
  • Experience with tendering, contracts, and vendor management
  • Strong planning, organisation, and integration skills
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills
  • High integrity, meticulous attention to detail, and strong interpersonal and communication skills
