System Specialist
Location: United States (Hybrid options available depending on team needs)

A major US organization is seeking a System Specialist to lead system development, vendor coordination, and delivery of technology solutions across a diverse application portfolio. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in complex environments, enjoys guiding projects from concept to support, and brings strong technical depth in data platforms, integrations, and analytics.

You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to shape technology strategy, manage system enhancements, and deliver scalable solutions that support long-term business goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead development activities and vendor implementation efforts from project initiation through post-implementation support

  • Oversee governance and authorization processes for code modifications, migrations, and software releases

  • Work with internal IT teams, business partners, and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues

  • Lead medium-complexity projects, prepare project plans, and manage budgets and cost tracking

  • Serve as lead analyst for one or more technology products or subsystems within the enterprise

  • Plan multi-year roadmaps for assigned portfolio areas and manage incoming customer requests

  • Analyse business requirements and present solution recommendations

  • Produce design documents, subsystem deliverables, project plans, and business cases

  • Coach and influence business managers on technology decisions

  • Build effective working relationships with internal and external partners to drive successful outcomes

  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure alignment with business objectives

  • Provide technical guidance, recommendations, and solution alternatives

  • Manage employees and contractors; deliver feedback and coach team members

  • Oversee incident management, triage, root-cause analysis, and preventative actions

  • Participate in disaster recovery activities

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to identify system and process optimisation opportunities

  • Communicate effectively across stakeholder groups and support change management efforts

  • Perform additional related duties as required

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, OR

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, OR

  • Associate degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, OR

  • High school diploma/GED with technical certification and at least 7 years of relevant experience

  • Experience with two or more of the following: SQL development, enterprise database development, business analysis, project management

  • Experience developing or troubleshooting complex reports and database queries

  • Hands-on experience with cloud analytics tools

  • Experience supporting enterprise integration workflows and data models

  • Ability to train team members, run meetings, and translate technical concepts for diverse audiences

  • Strong ethics, integrity, and ability to learn new technologies independently

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments and shifting priorities

Preferred Experience

  • Formal training in project management or business analysis

  • Experience developing applications or databases

  • Experience implementing packaged or cloud-based enterprise applications

  • Experience supporting APIs and modern integration patterns

  • Experience with version control, CI/CD tooling, and service management platforms

  • Participation in medium to large-scale systems development initiatives

Skills

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills

  • Ability to produce clear documentation for technical and non-technical users

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
