Job Title: Senior Schedule Engineer

Client: Multi-national corporation which provides consulting, engineering, and architecture services Internationally

Assignment Type: Annually Renewable Contract

Location: Lulea, Sweden

Residential / Rotation: 4 weeks on site, 1 week working remote, on rotation. Working 5 days per week, 8 hours per day

Monthly rate, accommodation and flights covered, paid holiday leave.

Kintec are currently partnered with a multi-national corporation which provides consulting, engineering, and architecture services Internationally constructing a plant in Northern Sweden that will produce Green Steel - Green Steel production emits up to 95% less CO ₂  compared conventional steel production.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate, manage, and optimize project schedules, ensuring alignment with project objectives and seamless integration with engineering and procurement plans.
  • Coordinate with supervisors and the construction manager to synchronize field activities and mitigate potential schedule deviations early.
  • Implement advanced planning and sequencing strategies to maximize efficiency, reduce discipline interferences, and optimize resource allocation on-site.
  • Establish monitoring and control systems for tracking physical progress, ensuring accurate reporting and data-driven decision making.
  • Perform precise schedule updates, incorporate actual progress data, evaluate impacts of changes, and analyze recovery scenarios when needed.
  • Generate and interpret progress curve analyses segmented by key areas, disciplines, and work packages.
  • Identify scheduling risks and develop contingency and recovery plans to minimize schedule impacts.

Requirements and Skills

General Requirements

  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in project planning and scheduling within EPC/EPCM environments (mining, energy, oil & gas, infrastructure).
  • Strong proficiency in Primavera P6 (mandatory), with solid command of MS Project and reporting tools such as Power BI; familiarity with integrated systems such as SAP, EcoSys, or Deltek Cobra is an asset.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams on large projects, supporting master schedules, lookaheads, progress curves, and resource histograms.
  • Ability to develop and maintain integrated schedules (engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning) using CPM, EVM, and Lean Construction methodologies.

Technical Skills

Project Scheduling & Planning

Expertise in Primavera P6, including:

  • Creating and maintaining project schedules.
  • Developing detailed schedules across permitting, engineering, procurement, construction, and start-up phases.
  • Preparing package-specific schedules for procurement and bidding processes.
  • Maintaining discipline-level schedules aligned with the overall project timeline.
  • Developing WBS structures, defining work activities, estimating durations, and establishing dependencies.

Project Monitoring & Control

Experience in schedule monitoring and progress tracking, including:

  • Identifying critical path activities and ensuring alignment with project targets.
  • Performing Earned Hours (HH) analysis (planned vs. earned vs. forecasted).
  • Creating and maintaining critical path reports and other schedule performance metrics.
  • Conducting schedule impact analysis to determine delays, risks, and potential recovery options.
  • Coordinating with cost engineering and project teams to ensure integrated planning.

Progress Reporting & Data Visualization

Preparation of weekly and monthly progress reports summarizing schedule performance indicators.

Development of S-curves, including:

  • Overall project S-curves for monitoring progress trends.
  • WBS Level 2 S-curves for detailed analysis.
  • Identification of early and late curves through Primavera P6.
  • Proficiency in Power BI dashboards for real-time construction progress and schedule reporting.

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication skills for effective coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Solid problem-solving and analytical thinking for addressing scheduling challenges and risks.
  • Active participation in risk workshops, schedule reviews, and progress meetings.

Languages

  • Fluent English (Intermediate-Advanced) for reporting, meetings, and technical communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with outage planning or startup sequencing.
  • Background in mechanical trades or maintenance planning.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to project scheduling.
