Process Safety Engineer – Manchester – Permanent – Hydrogen / Oil & Gas / Renewables / Energy / Chemical / Petrochemical / Energy
Position Description:
- Supporting a project team to deliver capital projects that comply with the relevant regulations, codes and standards across all sectors (including renewable energy, industrial biotechnology, hydrogen, brownfield chemical operations) – managing process safety deliverables manhours, and programme.
- Assisting in business development for our consultancy business.
- Providing technical guidance and advice on process safety risks and mitigation measures both internally and to external clients.
- Chairing hazards studies and SIL allocation workshops.
- Developing internal safety design standards and templates.
Experience/Skills:
Required:
- Chemical Engineering Degree and Chartered membership of IChemE.
- Good practical knowledge and experience of major accident hazard risks.
- Experience in a client-facing role, ideally with consultancy experience.
- Excellent report writing skills and concise presentation of results and findings in both written and verbal formats.
- Process safety study facilitation experience e.g., Hazard Studies, SIL determination, LOPAs.
- Excellent knowledge of hazard identification and risk assessment techniques.
- Working knowledge of process safety regulatory requirements, codes and standards – COMAH, DSEAR, PER.
Preferred:
- Experience in design safety in concept selection, FEED and detailed design.
- Development of Process Safety Management systems.
- Production of Functional Safety deliverables to IEC 61511 – e.g.; Safety Requirement Specifications, SIL Verification Calculations, Proof Test Procedures.
- Experience of quantified risk analysis techniques and/or modelling tools, Fault Tree Analysis, Bow-Ties, PHAST etc.
- Sectors specific experience: o Hydrogen/CCUS technologies
- Industrial Biotechnology and Fermentation
- Advanced Thermal Processes – Gasification/Pyrolysis
