Job Purpose
1. The Process Engineer is responsible for leading and overseeing the process design
activities and ensuring delivery of the process design package(s) / engineering
deliverables to meet the expected quality and standards. Shall coordinate various
aspects of the process engineering including design, interdisciplinary support,
planning, inspection and procurement.
2. Ensure independent technical assurance and challenge of Contractor process design
deliverables to protect technical integrity, operability, and long-term reliability
objectives.
3. Lead technical decision-making and process engineering governance during
engineering phase.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
 Lead and oversee contractor process engineering activities and resolve critical
technical issues affecting engineering quality, operability, safety, and project progress
 Review of critical project design documents and drawings such as design basis PFD
and P&ID, produced by the contractor and the vendors.
 Provide technical leadership and independent process engineering assurance for all
process engineering activities including multidisciplinary coordination and design
reviews.
 Ensure full compliance of contractor engineering deliverables with project scope,
company standards, engineering philosophies, and international codes and
standards.
 Lead technical coordination and interface management with licensors, vendors,
contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
 Lead and participate in HAZOP/LOPA/SIL and other process safety studies, ensuring
technical risks and operability concerns are properly addressed.
 Lead process engineering participation in 3D model reviews, ensuring operability,
maintainability, accessibility, and constructability considerations are incorporated.
 Ensure proper design reviews during 30%, 60% and 90%, meeting company
requirements, standards and procedures.
 Drive contractor engineering performance, technical quality, and timely resolution of
engineering review comments.
 Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, energy efficiency, and
schedule improvement while maintaining technical integrity and safety requirements.
 Independently identify design gaps and challenge contractor engineering
assumptions.
 Ensure plant operability, controllability, maintainability, and startup/shutdown
considerations are incorporated into the design.


 Review and validate process control philosophies, safeguarding philosophies, and
dynamic/transient process scenarios.
 Participate in process optimization and techno-economic evaluation studies.
 Support engineering change management and design freeze activities
Requirements
Educational & Technical Requirements:
 Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering discipline. Master's degree is a plus
 Minimum 10 -15 years of relevant experience in large to mega projects with a
minimum of 3 years Saudi Aramco experience
 Experience with process simulation tools such as HYSYS, PRO II, Flare System and
other relevant Process design and safety tools.
 Experience in simulating steady and dynamic systems
 Experience with the development of H&MB, Heat integration, PFD/P&IDs/MSDs,
LDT, as well as the design/specifications/selection of process equipment/instruments
and hydraulics calculations.
 Experience in participating and contributing to Safety Assessment Reviews.
 Knowledge in HTRI/HTFS, Columns trays/packing design, Corrosion and Material
selection, CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) modelling is a plus
 Familiarity with AOC's standards and procedures preferred
 Good knowledge of English, both written and verbal
 Advanced computer skills with MS-Office
 Excellent communication skills
 Strong experience in FEED and detailed design development.
 Strong understanding of process operability and process control interaction.
 Advanced experience in dynamic simulation and flare/depressuring studies.
 Strong knowledge of Saudi Aramco standards and international engineering
practices.
