Job Title: Principal Marine Engineer

Overview
An engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Principal Marine Engineer for a 12-18 month site-based assignment in Qatar. The role focuses on leading the design and delivery of port infrastructure projects, providing technical leadership across all phases of development. This is an excellent opportunity for senior engineers with extensive experience in port design and maritime structures.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead concept, front-end, and detailed design for port infrastructure, including jetties, dolphins, quay structures, dredge layouts, breakwaters, and revetments
- Apply knowledge of shipping, navigation, berthing, and mooring principles to design solutions
- Oversee pile and quay wall design, ensuring compliance with geotechnical principles
- Ensure all designs meet relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., BS6349, EC2, EC3, EC7, AISC, ACI318)
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design teams
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project objectives are met on time and to specification
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or postgraduate qualification in Civil, Structural, or Maritime Engineering
- Minimum 15 years of experience in port infrastructure and marine engineering design
- Strong knowledge of port design, berthing, mooring, and dredging principles
- Familiarity with international design codes and standards
- Proven track record leading complex engineering projects
