Job Title: HSE Engineer

Assignment Type: Annually Renewable Contract
Location: Boden, Sweden
Residential/ Rotation: 3 weeks on office/site, one week working on remote, on rotation. Working 5 days per week, 8 hours per day
Kintec are currently partnered with a multi-national corporation which provides consulting, engineering, and architecture services Internationally constructing a plant in Northern Sweden that will produce Green Steel - Green Steel production emits up to 95% less CO ₂ compared conventional steel production.
ROLE OVERVIEW
Senior Health, Safety & Environment professional with 10+ years' experience supporting large industrial and construction projects in Sweden. Responsible for regulatory compliance under AML, AFS, and EU directives, acting as BAS-P / BAS-U, leading site safety programme implementation, risk assessments, training, and emergency preparedness. Works closely with project management, contractors, and authorities to enforce safety standards, promote a strong safety culture, and ensure operations remain fully compliant in high-risk, complex construction environments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to Swedish legislation (AML, AFS 99:03) and EU directives, including BAS-P/BAS-U coordination for construction phases.
- Safety Program Implementation: Develop and enforce site-specific HSE plans, PPE compliance, and emergency response procedures.
- Training & Awareness: Maintain training matrices, deliver inductions, and ensure continuous professional development aligned with Swedish standards.
- Knowledge of Swedish HSE Framework: BAS-U/BAS-P certification and familiarity with AML & AFS regulations.
- Safety Engineering Expertise: Proficiency in risk analysis tools, functional safety, ATEX compliance, and industrial permitting processes.
- Integrity & Courage: Ability to enforce safety standards even under pressure and challenge unsafe practices.
- Communication & Leadership: Collaborate with PMC team, contractors, and regulatory authorities; promote a strong safety culture.
- Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Respond effectively to emergencies and evolving project conditions
REQUIRED
- Profile with University degree or higher qualification.
- More than 10 years of experience in HSE.
- Experience as BAS-P or BAS-u in Sweden.
- Knowledge of Swedish health and safety regulations.
