Job Title: Cost Control Leader

Assignment Type: Annually Renewable Contract
Location: Boden, Sweden
Residential/ Rotation: 4 weeks on office/site, one week working on remote, on rotation. Working 5 days per week, 8 hours per day
Kintec are currently partnered with a multi-national corporation which provides consulting, engineering, and architecture services Internationally constructing a plant in Northern Sweden that will produce Green Steel - Green Steel production emits up to 95% less CO ₂ compared conventional steel production.
ROLE OVERVIEW
Senior cost management professional with 10+ years' experience on large, complex industrial projects, responsible for overseeing budget control, financial reporting, risk management, and cost variance mitigation. Acts as the interface between project management, finance, and client leadership, producing high-level cost analyses and reports while validating data within systems such as UNIFIER to ensure full contractual and financial compliance across all project areas.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage high-level cost control meetings with management and clients.
- Collaborate with project management and finance teams to ensure that all operating costs are accurately accounted for and properly allocated.
- Decide on corrective measures for cost variances based on project expenditure monitoring.
- Generate high-level financial reports, highlighting key metrics, trends, and issues relevant to the client and stakeholders regarding the status of project cost control.
- Identify and approve financial risks, use of contingencies, and develop migration strategies to avoid cost overruns and budget impacts.
- Review and manage contractual costs, ensuring compliance with financial conditions and addressing any cost-related issues.
- Analyse the overall status of project costs provided by the cost control team within all CAs.
- Review and analyse UNIFIER information to validate project cost control.
REQUIRED
- University degree or higher qualification.
- Previous work experience as a Cost Control Leader / Manager or in a similar position. More than 10 years' experience in large and complex projects is required.
- Experience in financial analysis, cost saving, budgeting, cost estimation, project management, software proficiency, strategic planning, team leadership, risk management, problem solving, critical thinking, analytical decision making, communication and negotiation.
- Knowledge and experience in document management methodologies and tools.
- Exceptional attention to detail and proactive mindset.
- Ability to support senior consultants in project execution.
- Global vision of the sequence and phases of large industrial projects.
- Ability to work in a team and technical rigour.
- Advanced English.
